FSR Endorses Federal Legislation to Protect Patient Access to Complex Therapies

On August 22, the Florida Society of Rheumatology (FSR) continued its advocacy for patient access to medications by joining 50 patient and provider stakeholders in writing to U.S. Representatives Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC), Neal Dunn, MD (R-FL) and Adam Gray (D-CA) endorsing the bipartisan Protecting Patient Access to Cancer and Complex Therapies Act (H.R. 4299).

The federal legislation intends to address the untenable Part B payment cuts to healthcare providers included in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and protect Medicare beneficiaries’ access to lifesaving therapies.

A May 2025 study by Milliman found that the policies in the legislation would save the Medicare program $3.3 billion over 10 years, while maintaining the IRA’s $93.3 billion in savings for patients over 10 years.

H.R. 4299 has been referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means.
